BBC Studio Experience
Students visit BBC Bristol Broadcasting House
19 students visited the BBC Broadcasting House in Bristol – the regional television centre for the West of England, and learnt how television and radio programmes are made, how they were made in the past and how broadcasting has evolved to today's technology
The group was taken around by tour guides who were well-informed and entertaining and gave them an insight into the many programmes produced in Bristol, such as Antiques Roadshow, Flog It! Countryfile and The Food Programme as well as the Natural History Unit's programmes such as Spring Watch.
Students were able to have a go at presenting the news and weather which is easier said than done! They were amazed to find that when presenters present the weather they are actually standing in front of a blank green screen. Students also produced their own programme complete with sound effects.
